Energizing Youth through Fitness & Fun across the NFL
ReCharge! is a great way to promote the NFL’s league-wide commitment to fitness. Several NFL Clubs have already incorporated ReCharge! into their youth fitness programs, showing that the kit can easily be used at schools, after-school programs or community organizations. ReCharge! is the perfect complement to any current NFL program, and the kit is easy to set up and transport; flexible enough to be used in a variety of places and spaces; and durable for hands-on, repeated use. The eight-station fitness course is filled with fun, energizing activities to get the kids moving and feeling fully recharged! The School District of Palm Beach County received two ReCharge! kits donated by the NFL and the Florida Action for Healthy Kids Partnership.
During the annual pre-school event for 2009–2010 school year, elementary physical education teachers received training on the implementation of the ReCharge! kit. A schedule was created to rotate the kits between elementary schools for a four week period. The physical education teachers that received a kit identified a common area within their schools to display the equipment and provided professional development for classroom teachers to ensure maximum and safe participation. The kits are designed to increase the number of students engaging in moderate to vigorous activities and help schools meet the state mandates of 150 minutes of physical education per week.
Since the 2009-2010 school year, over 44 elementary schools throughout The School District of Palm Beach County have utilized the ReCharge! kits. The program was formerly called Mini-ReCharge!
